Shuffle Boogie – To be played with a pick or the fingers (pima)

By Amar Guerfi | Filed in Advanced, Intermediate |

There are two possibilities with regard to the technique used for the right hand: you can either use your thumb for the bass and your fore finger and middle finger for the treble strings, OR you can use the pick to play down strokes on the bass and up strokes on the treble. For the left hand, it should be noted that while playing this kind of Blues song, some guitarists will always play the two open strings for the treble (B and E). This often makes the song easier to play.

Be careful with the interpretation of the triplets in measures 1, 3, 5 and 7. If needed, isolate these passages or the triplet itself in order to make it more accessible. With regard to the left hand, the fingers which play the treble part will remain in place throughout each measure.
